Hyundai Motorsport says it is “fully committed” to its customers in the ADAC TCR Germany series, after Hyundai Motors Deutschland ended its backing of the Team Engstler-run programme.
Hyundai Motors Deutschland released a statement last week to confirm the end of its four-year backing for Team Engstler in the series.
Team Engstler has also confirmed it will now switch to running Honda cars in the series from 2022.
However, Hyundai customers choosing to race in the Germany series will continue to receive full support from the manufacturer’s motorsport department, Hyundai Motorsport GmbH, which will offer an unchanged support package.
Indeed, ROJA Motorsport has already revealed plans to expand its programme in the series in 2022, when it plans to run three Hyundai i30 N TCR cars.
“Hyundai Motorsport is fully committed to supporting our i30 N TCR customers in TCR Germany for the 2022 season,” said Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing Manager Andrew Johns.
“While Hyundai Germany, sadly, have chosen to end their incredibly successful partnership with the Engstler Motorsport in the championship this relationship was always separate from the efforts of the Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing support engineers and after-sales staff based in Alzenau, Germany.
“All our customers in the series this year will be able to rely on the same high level of service they have come to expect in previous seasons that has established Hyundai teams as the clear benchmark in the paddock.
“Hyundai customer drivers and teams have won the teams’ and drivers’ title in each of the last three seasons, and we look forward to adding this superb record in 2022.”
