Cyan Racing’s Santiago Urrutia has been given a five-place grid penalty for the opening FIA World Touring Car Cup race at Pau-Arnos, after he impeded Tom Coronel on a flying lap.
Urrutia had qualified his Lynk & Co 03 in fourth, having made it through to Q3, and the Uruguayan racer would have started the partially-reversed race one from seventh on the grid.
However, he has been given a five-place grid drop for “leaving the pit lane (when pit exit blue flag was waved) and impeding Tom Coronel on his fast lap”.
The penalty does not affect Urrutia’s starting position for race two, meaning he retains fourth on the grid.
