ComtoYou Racing’s Dušan Borković hopes to “use his good starting position, score new points and maybe get to the podium” ahead of the second TCR Europe race of the weekend at Monza.
The Serbian driver, who ended race one of the weekend on Saturday in seventh after an entertaining battle with three other drivers including teammate Tom Coronel and also Jimmy Clairet, had been running as high as third before his Audi RS3 TCR suffered a mechanical problem that saw him drop to the rear of the quartet.
“It was an exciting race, but I am very dissatisfied with my pace on the straight at one point of the race especially because it keeps repeating,” explained Borković at the end of race one.
“I trust my team and I see that the engineers and mechanics are doing their best, but I really don’t understand how all of a sudden I can’t get through the race to keep up on the straight with the rest of the grid.”
“I hope that tomorrow I will be able to use my good starting position, score new points and maybe get to the podium.”
Sunday’s second race in Italy will see the Serbian driver line up fifth on the grid alongside Brutal Fish Racing Team’s Isidro Callejas.
The second TCR Europe race at Monza is set to get underway at 13:30 CEST (12:30 BST) on Sunday afternoon.
