Jay Hanson has announced that he will miss the next round of the TCR Australia series at Morgan Park in August, after parting ways with Ashley Seward Motorsport.
Hanson, 17, made his début in the series earlier this year and has raced an Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR in the first four events of the year.
After starting the season on a high with a strong meeting at Symmons Plains Raceway, where he had claimed a first podium finish before it was stripped due to contact with Chaz Mostert, Hanson has struggled for results in recent events.
At Phillip Island and Mount Panorama, Hanson only managed one top ten finish from each event’s three races, whilst last time out at Sydney Motorsport Park he failed to make it into the top ten altogether.
Hanson will return to TCR Australia at Sandown with a new team.
“There have been some frustrations this year, so we are going to have a change of plans for the rest of 2021,” said Hanson, who is currently 16th overall in the drivers’ standings.
“We are going to miss Morgan Park to put some new plans in place, and then we should be back for Sandown.
“The time I spent at ASM was a great learning experience, and I really enjoyed having Lee Holdsworth as a team-mate and mentor. Both Lee and Ash have both really taught me a lot.”
