Isidro Callejas admitted he “had no words” to describe his podium finish in the second TCR Europe race at Zandvoort.
The Spanish driver, who managed to overtake Jimmy Clairet before going on to comfortably manage the gap between the two drivers, eventually claimed third position behind race winner Franco Girolami and Niels Langeveld on Sunday afternoon.
“This result is amazing, the feeling is just amazing,” said Callejas after the end of the second race in the Netherlands.
“It was a hard race and I didn’t have the best of starts, but then I pushed a lot and I was able to pass Clairet.
“After that, I just managed my tyres and that was that. The race for me was very clean, very fair, and I have no words to describe it – just amazing!”
2021 is Callejas’ first season in the championship and the youngster admitted he will continue to push as hard as he can as he looks to regularly finish strongly throughout the remainder of the year.
“It will be difficult for me to win a race, I think,” added Callejas.
“This is my first year in this championship so it will be difficult for me to improve I think, but you can be sure that I will try my best.”
The Brutal Fish Racing Team driver is now 11th in the Drivers Standings following the two races at Zandvoort and is just one point behind Felice Jelmini.
The next rounds of the 2021 TCR Europe season are set to take place at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium between July 29-31.
