PSS Racing Team’s Franco Girolami has vowed to “continue to try to win” after the Argentinian driver dominated the second race of the TCR Europe weekend at Zandvoort.
Girolami took his maiden win in the series after pulling away from both Niels Langeveld and Isidro Callejas and the Honda Civic man admitted he was delighted to take the victory.
“I can’t believe it,” said Girolami after the end of the race on Sunday afternoon.
“I’m very happy for my team, PSS Racing, for JAS, for the Honda family, for Argentina, for my brother and for my girlfriend.
“I’m really, really happy and we will continue to try to win. This is my first victory in TCR Europe and so I’m very happy with this result.”
The result also means Girolami now leads the championship heading to Spa Francorchamps next month by a total of 11 points after rival Tom Coronel was forced to retire from the second race of the weekend and 2nd placed Mikel Azcona didn’t compete at Zandvoort.
The next round of the 2021 TCR Europe series is set to take place at the Belgian circuit between July 29-31.
