Dušan Borkovič said his ComToYou Racing team are “doing a really good job” after the Serbian driver finished third in the opening race of the weekend at Zandvoort.
Borkovič had to settle for third in the opening race of the weekend after being unable to match the pace of both teammate and race winner Tom Coronel and Brutal Fish Racing Team’s Jack Young, but he was still happy to take home a podium finish in race one.
“I didn’t really know what the pace would be because I didn’t test here,” explained the Serbian driver after the end of the race on Saturday afternoon.
“I knew that Tom (Coronel) would be fast here but I didn’t know that he would be so incredibly fast! At the beginning, I saw that I could keep P3 but at the end the tyres weren’t so good, particularly in the second sector, and Niels (Langeveld) was closing up on me.
“I could keep him away in the first and third sectors but in the slower corners it was not so good and so we have to work on that.
Borkovič, who is now ninth in the title standings, also admitted he’s hoping for more strong results throughout the rest of the season.
“Anyway, I’m happy with the result,” added Borkovič.
“It’s my first year with the Audi and the first year with a new team; ComToYou are doing a really good job, and so I want to thank them, my sponsors, Serbia and my family for supporting me so much.
“We’re still not halfway through the season yet and so I hope we can have more of this kind of result in the rest of the year.”
Race two of the TCR Europe series at Zandvoort is set to take place at 13:10 CEST (12:10 BST) on Sunday.
