Reverse-grid pole-sitter Adam Morgan won the final British Touring Car Championship race of the weekend at Brands Hatch, which saw drivers struggle to make progress around the short circuit.
After the top 12 were reversed from the race two result, Ciceley Motorsport’s Morgan found himself on pole. The BMW driver made a decent start and led for the duration of the race to claim his first victory in his new machinery.
Team HARD’s Jack Goff claimed second, having battled with the Laser Tools Racing Infiniti of Aiden Moffat throughout the race. Moffat had passed the CUPRA driver for second on lap three, but Goff re-claimed the position seven laps later and held the Infiniti at bay thereafter.
Moffat himself was lucky to hold on to the final podium position, with PMR’s Jason Plato giving him a run to the line – and Moffat only prevailing by 0.012 seconds.
Plato therefore had to settle for fourth, ahead of the BTC Racing Honda of Josh Cook in fifth, with Cook making more progress than most in the race from eighth on the grid.
Senna Proctor ran in fifth for much of the race but gave way to his title challenging team-mate on the final lap and was sixth, ahead of the leading Toyota of Rory Butcher in seventh, the Speedworks driver making up an impressive seven places in the race to crack the top ten for the first time all weekend.
Ash Sutton was eighth in his Infiniti, enough to see him re-take the points lead by three points, with PMR’s Dan Lloyd and Excelr8 Motorsport’s Chris Smiley completing the top ten.
Team Dynamics’ Dan Rowbottom was 11th, with Ingram himself coming home in 12th, unable to progress with 75 kg of ballast on board his Hyundai.
MB Motorsport’s Jake Hill came through from the back of the grid to take 13th, ahead of Team BMW’s Colin Turkington in 14th – the Northern Irishman only claiming two points in his worst weekend in the championship in recent memory.
Tom Oliphant dropped back from 13th at the end of the race to take the chequered flag in 15th and claim the final point.
The only retirement of the race was MB Motorsport’s Ollie Jackson, whose bonnet came open when he was battling for the final points position.
Sutton leads the standings after Brands Hatch with 116 points, ahead of Ingram with 113, cook with 90, Turkington with 77 and Hill with 73.
