Lithuanian racer Jonas Karklys will enter this year’s ADAC TCR Germany series, where the 31-year-old will race a Hyundai i30 N TCR for a yet-to-be-specified team.
Karklys has spent the past two seasons competing in the Renault Clio Cup Central Europe. He also took part in the Central European ESET V4 Cup rounds at the Slovakiaring and the Hungaroring, securing a best finish of third in race one in Slovakia and race two in Hungary.
“This is going to be a big step in my career; it’s a big challenge with a new car, new competition and new competitors,” said Karklys.
“I haven’t tested the Hyundai i30 N TCR yet, though I have taken part in a few races at the wheel of different models of TCR cars.
“I know that the Hyundai is very competitive, but we’ll have to learn a lot on how to set up the car for circuits that are new to us.
“We want to learn as much as possible and the see what we are capable to do.”
Karklys will be the second Lithuanian to race in TCR Germany, after Dziugas Tovilavicius competed in the series in 2020.
