HP Racing’s Harald Proczyk claimed pole position for ADAC TCR Germany’s second visit to the EuroSpeedway Lausitz this season, a huge seven tenths clear of the Engstler-run Hyundai of Antti Buri.
On a wet circuit, championship leader Proczyk was comfortably the fastest driver in both the Q1 and Q2 sessions, having been two tenths fastest in the first part.
Just ten cars are taking part in the penultimate TCR Germany event of the year, and thus all cars progressed through to Q2, effectively making Q1 little more than a practice session.
Buri will join Proczyk on the front row of the grid for race one later today, the Finn ending up nowhere near his title rival in terms of pace at the East German circuit, a late replacement for Zandvoort due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Jan Seyffert was third fastest, losing out to Buri near the end of the session, 0.738 seconds off the pace. The second Engstler motorsport Hyundai of Nico Gruber will line up alongside in fourth.
Dominik Fugel, second in the standings, was the best Honda driver in fifth, almost a second and a half off the pace, ahead of his brother Marcel Fugel in sixth.
Albert Legutko put his older-spec Honda Civic in seventh, over two seconds off pole, ahead of the Hyundai VIP car of Laura Kraihamer in eighth. Kraihamer, a regular GT racer, was just under three seconds off the pace. Kraihamer will line up her Hyundai on pole position for the reverse-grid second race on Sunday.
The top ten was completed by the Volkswagens of René Kircher and Dziugas Tovilavicius respectively.
Race one is scheduled to get underway at 12:00 GMT (13:00 CET).
