Reigning FIA World Touring Car Cup champion Norbert Michelisz will make a guest start in this weekend’s ADAC TCR Germany races at the Nürburgring, racing Engstler Motorsport’s VIP Hyundai.
Michelisz will make his first race appearance of 2020 when he races in TCR gemrnay this weekend, following in the footsteps of WTCR team-mate Gabriele Tarquini as the Hungarian makes his bow in the German series.
“It is always a great challenge to take part in a new championship,” said Michelisz, who is more accustomed to racing on the long Nordschleife circuit. “This is all the more true this time as I have not yet driven the sprint track of the Nürburgring Grand Prix course.
“But as a racing driver you are always looking for challenges and I am very happy about the chance to be part of the ADAC TCR Germany this weekend.
“The ADAC TCR Germany is one of the best national TCR championships and it has been seen in recent years that the drivers who are at the forefront there can also be successful in other international TCR series.
“I expect tough fights on the track and a very competitive field. Still, my goal is to win at least one race.”
Michelisz’s team-mates will be regular TCR Germany competitors Antti Buri and Nicolas Gruber.
