Adam Morgan says emotional Oulton Park victory is a ‘massive boost’ for Ciceley Motorsport

Ciceley Motorsport’s Adam Morgan believes his emotional victory in race three of the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park will provide his squad with a “massive boost” for the remainder of the season.

Morgan had enjoyed strong pace throughout the day at Oulton Park, with two top ten finishes prior to his front row start for the final race of the day at his home circuit.

He snatched the lead immediately in the shortened ten-lap encounter, and would not relinquish it despite constant pressure from the WSR-run Team BMW duo of first Tom Oliphant and then Colin Turkington.

Post race, Morgan told ITV he was delighted for the team who deserved the home victory to end a tricky period in the series for the team.

“It couldn’t have happened at a better time, we’ve got our sponsors here, at our home track as well. It was very difficult having Colin behind me for that many laps,” he said.

“I’m delighted for everyone at Ciceley Motorsport. We have worked and worked and worked with the Mercedes. We keep finding little bits here and there and she’s come good!”

Clearly overcome with emotion after the win, Morgan explained how he achieved the victory under such intense pressure and why it meant so much crossing the line.

“It was tough. After a period of time in a touring car you sort of just realise the strengths and weaknesses of the front-wheel drive and the rear-wheel drive and I knew Colin would be quick coming out of the last corner.

“I knew he’d be quick coming out of the hairpin, so get it stopped, make them wait and then drive away.

“But I’m a bit emotional actually. It’s massive, it’s a massive boost for everyone. We just keep pushing, we just never give up, never stop trying. It’s huge for us.”
