Nathan Morcom will stay at his family-run HMO Customer Racing team for the 2020 TCR Australia series, once again campaigning a Hyundai i30 N TCR.
Morcom lined up alongside eventual champion Will Brown in a Hyundai last year, finishing fourth overall in the drivers’ standings after a consistent season which culminated in a maiden win in the season finale at The Bend Motorsport Park.
The 27-year-old will stay with the team in 2020 as he aims to step up his performances in an increasingly competitive Australian grid.
“I’m really excited to be back in the i30 N TCR for 2020,” said Morcom. “We learned a lot about this car in 2019 and I’m looking forward to a really strong battle.
“The competition will be much tougher than 2019 but we’re ready for it.”
Team owner Barry Morcom believes that on-one in Australia knows a TCR car as well as his son Nathan.
“Nobody knows a TCR car as well as Nathan does,” added Morcom Sr. “Not only does he drive the car, but he manages behind the scenes preparation of the entire team.
“He understands the car knows how to extract the best performance from the car while still looking after the equipment.”
The opening round for Australian TCR competitors will be the non-championship event at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix on 12 – 15 March 2020.
