Josh Files will join the grid of the second TCR Malaysia event of the year in Sepang this weekend, racing a Hyundai i30 N TCR for the South Korean Solite Indigo Racing team.
Reigning TCR Europe champion Files will be the second Brit to join the grid this weekend, joining Brutal Fish Racing’s Daniel Lloyd.
Lloyd secured a brace of second place finishes in the opening round, also at Sepang, and heads into this weekend’s event as the series leader.
For Files, it will be his first time competing in an Asian TCR race, having spent two years in TCR Germany in 2016 and 2017, before moving to TCR Europe in 2018 and 2019. He also took part in the Middle Eastern TCR series in 2017.
Indigo Racing have already committed to returning to the TCR Asia series this year, with the outfit having last year run a pair of i30 N TCR cars for Pepe Oriola and Kim Jin Soo.
“I’m super happy to announce that I’ll be joining Solite Indigo Racing for the TCR Malaysia series,” announced Files. “We start our preparations in this weekend’s TCR Malaysia round at Sepang.
“I must thank the Indigo team and Hyundai for putting their trust in me.”
Rounds 3 and 4 take place on Saturday 15 February, running on the same bill as the Asian Le Mans Series.
