Nine-time Macau Guia race winner Rob Huff set the pace in second practice for the FIA World Touring Car Cup in Macau, leading a Brit 1-2 at the top of the times as Andy Priaulx was second, just over two tenths adrift.
Huff posted the quickest lap of 2 minutes 29.422 seconds at the mid-stage of the session, the SLR Volkswagen driver edging out a later challenge from Cyan Racing’s Priaulx in the leading Lynk & Co.
French duo Jean-Karl Vernay and Yann Ehrlacher were third and fourth respectively in their Audi and Lynk & Co respectively.
Only two other drivers were within a second of the pace, with Comtoyou Racing’s Frédéric Vervisch in fifth and Cyan Racing’s Thed Björk in sixth, the latter being the leading title contender after the Swede had earlier been just 12th in first practice.
BRC Racing’s Nicky Catsburg was the leading Hyundai driver in seventh, ahead of the best Honda of KCMG’s Tiago Monteiro in eighth.
Norbert Michelisz was ninth in his Hyundai, whilst the top ten was completed by Mikel Azcona’s PWR Racing CUPRA.
Yvan Muller, who had been second in the earlier session, was 11th quickest, 1.5 seconds off the pace in his Lynk & Co.
Points leader Esteban Guerrieri was just 22nd fastest in his Münnich Motorsport Honda, as he and team-mate Néstor Girolami (26th) struggled for pace on the Circuito da Guia.
BRC Racing managed to repair Gabriele Tarquini’s car after his crash in the first session, with the Italian posting just the 23rd fastest time, almost three seconds off the pace.
Qualifying for all three races takes place on Friday, with the first session getting underway at 08:50 local time.
