Young Malaysian racer Mitchell Cheah Min Jie has confirmed that he will take part in the ADAC TCR Germany series in 2019, continuing to race for Engstler Motorsport.
The 20-year-old took part in TCR Asia in 2018, racing a Volkswagen Golf GTi for Liqui Moly Team Engstler. Immediately on the pace, Cheah finished as the runner-up to team-mate Luca Engstler, securing two race wins during the season.
Cheah recently took part in the season finale of the TCR Malaysia series, claiming victory in race one and second in race two, again with Engstler Motorsport.
He will now get to take on a full season in TCR Germany after confirming his commitment to the series on Instagram.
Cheah has already been confirmed as a wildcard entrant for the season finale of the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) at the Sepang International Circuit in mid-December.
“Happy to announce that I will do the full season of ADAC TCR Germany with Engstler Motorsport,” wrote Cheah.
“With [an] additional WILDCARD entry for the final round of the FIA World Touring Car Cup in December at Sepang Circuit.
“Big thanks to my sponsors Sepang International Circuit and Razlan Razali [CEO of Sepang Circuit] for giving me the opportunity to pursue my racing career and believing in me.
“It’s gonna be a new exciting adventure ahead and I’m really looking forward to do my best and make everyone proud!”
