David Sonenscher has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of the TCR UK Series for 2019, with the current TCR Asia boss responsible for overseeing the operations of the UK-based series in the coming season.
Ahead of the second season of the TCR UK series, long-standing WSC Group shareholder Sonenscher has been appointed to run the series.
Sonenscher’s experience has mostly been gained in Asia, where he has been promoting the TCR Asia Series since 2015, and Asian touring car competitions in the decade prior to that. He is also promoting the new TCR Malaysia series in 2019.
“I have been working for many years with David and we have developed a fruitful professional and personal relationship,” said WSC Director Marcello Lotti. “His experience and enthusiasm will surely help TCR UK to grow further in its second season.”
Sonenscher was a frequent attendee in the TCR UK paddock last year, and will oversee its operations throughout 2019.
“It’s an honour for me to be involved in TCR UK,” said Sonenscher. “This will require a lot of travelling around the world to match my commitments in the Far East, but I have strong motivation and I’m sure we can do a good job.”
The second season of TCR UK gets underway at Snetterton on the weekend of the 20 – 21 April.
Editor’s note: This article originally referred to Sonenscher replacing Jonathan Ashman in charge of TCR UK. Sonenscher will in fact be working together with Ashman, who remains as the Promoter of TCR UK.
