Yann Ehrlacher has been revealed as the fourth driver signing for Lynk & Co Cyan Racing, partnering his World Champions Yvan Muller, Andy Priaulx and Thed Björk in the Swedish outfit’s WTCR driver line-up.
The signing of Ehrlacher, Muller’s nephew, means that the team now has arguably the strongest driver line-up in the field, with the four drivers holding 79 race victories at World Championship level and eight World Titles between them.
Ehrlacher has already proven himself at the world level, claiming one WTCC win in 2017 and two WTCR victories in 2018.
“This is a dream come true and I cannot imagine a better team to be in than Cyan Racing,” said 22-year-old Ehrlacher. “I have still a lot to learn and to have Andy, Thed and Yvan as team-mates will enable me to both learn from them and at the same time set a very high target of results.
“While I am the youngest in the team, my ambitions are at least as high as theirs for the 2019 WTCR.”
Ehrlacher will get his first chance to try out the new Lynk & Co 03 TCR at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain today (19 December) along with team-mates Muller and Priaulx.
“Yann has impressed us all with his speed and maturity relative to his young age,” said Cyan Racinmg CEO Christian Dahl. “We haven’t seen a young talent like him in many years.
“He completes our line-up for the 2019 FIA WTCR in the best possible way alongside our experienced drivers.”
Cyan Racing will continue pre-season testing in southern Europe throughout the winter ahead of the season start in Morocco on April 7th.
