Alex Morgan will return to the TCR UK series for the season finale at Donington Park this weekend, racing a Renault Mégane for Vuković Motorsport.
Morgan has competed in select TCR Germany and TCR UK rounds this year, last being seen in the UK when he took part in the third event of the season at Brands Hatch.
The Brit will now return to the series for the showdown at Donington Park this weekend, racing the same Renault which Vuković campaigned in TCR Germany as part of further development work on the relatively new car.
The car recently completed a successful test at Hockenheim ahead of the UK race meeting, and plans are underway for a 2019 programme for the car, although in which series has yet to be determined.
The focus of the Vuković Renault TCR development programme has been on TCR Germany in 2018, with two cars entered for part of the season under the Wolf-Power Racing and Besagroup Racing Team banners, although Vuković also entered a car for Dino Calcum at the Nürburgring.
To-date, however, the car has yet to claim a top ten result in the 18 entries across the two TCR series this year.
“It’s been fantastic to be a part of developing a car like the Mégane TCR and to watch it evolve over the months,” said Morgan. “We’ve chopped and changed a little in terms of the championships we’ve entered, but thanks to an intensive few months of work we’ve seen lap times come down from being three seconds a lap off the pace at Oschersleben to just 0.6 seconds a lap in Q1 at the Sachsenring.
“We’ve known for a long time that the pace was there and so it’ll be good to hopefully show that at Donington this weekend.
“I know the circuit and I’ve gone well there in the past and so a good result is more than possible.
“It’ll be a great way of showing what the car and the team are capable of and confirm that what we’ve been doing this year has paid off.”
