The new Geely Group Motorsport TCR car, the Lynk & Co 03, will be made available to customer racing teams starting from 2019, with the price being at the €130,000 cost cap set by the TCR rights holder.
Geely revealed the new car at the Fuji Speedway in Japan on Friday, where the first customer was revealed to be Cyan Racing, who will campaign the car in the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) in 2019.
The Chinese car company has also confirmed that the car will be available to customer teams around the world, in line with the TCR requirements.
“This is a first and important step for the newly formed Geely Group Motorsport,” said Geely Group Motorsport’s Head of Motorsport Alexander Murdzevski-Schedvin.
“We will offer the all-new and agile Lynk & Co 03 model as a race car to customer teams in international and national series throughout the world in strong competition against other global automotive brands.”
Development of the car has been carried out during 2018 by Geely Group Motorsport, with input from Cyan Racing. Many of the mechanics at Cyan Racing have also been working with Yvan Muller Racing in WTCR, running a pair of Hyundais, with covert Cyan Racing branding on the cars.
The car will feature a two-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 350 bhp and 420 Nm of torque. The car is front-wheel drive, as per TCR regulations, and fitted with a six-speed sequential gearbox.
