The first JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic Type R has arrived on Australian shores ahead of the new-for-2019 TCR Australia Series.
Sydney-based outfit Wall Racing are currently assisting JAS in housing and preparing the car, with the aim of partnering with a local team to enter TCR Australia next year.
The Honda’s arrival follows the news that Melbourne Performance Centre (MPC) took delivery of an Audi RS 3 LMS late in 2017.
MPC has already secured the exclusive local rights to supply vehicles from VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group), and HMO Customer Racing is known to have acquired a pair of Hyundai i30 N TCR challengers.
The arrival of the Civic Type R marks the latest in a long line of forays into Australian motorsport for the Japanese marque, having competed in Super Touring and production-based racing and rallying at various levels.
