Both Finlay Crocker and Darelle Wilson will return to the TCR UK series for this weekend’s races at Croft, having missed the previous meeting at Oulton Park.
Crocker handed over driving duties in his Honda Civic Type R to Ash Sutton last time out due to work pressures, with the reigning BTCC champion going on to win both races after having also posted pole position earlier in the day.
But Crocker will return to the driving seat for the round in North Yorkshire, whilst TouringCars.Net understands that Sutton, who is at the Goodwood revival meeting this weekend, will return to the car for the season finale at Donington Park in October.
“I have to say that Ash did a fantastic job at Oulton Park and I was delighted with the way he represented Verizon Connect Racing,” said Crocker.
“I was actually working all day on the Saturday and planned to watch the races back in the evening, but Ash rang me to thank me as I was getting home; that’s how I found out that he’d won both races!
“He’s set me an incredibly tough act to follow, but I’ll do my best at Croft.”
Wilson, meanwhile, skipped the event due to taking time out to continue development work on the Vauxhall Astra TCR, with the team having previously taken the car to Germany earlier in the year in order to try to get to the bottom of some of their issues.
DW Racing Team Coordinator Les Latham admits that it has been a struggle running the Opel-built Astra in the UK.
“TCR UK has been a real step up for us this year and we’re still learning the car,” explained Latham. “Unfortunately, we’re the only team running an Astra and so we have nobody in the UK to compare ourselves with.
“Missing the races at Oulton Park gave us the chance to take a really good look at the car and we think we’ve come up with some solutions to our problems.
“We know the Astra is strong in a straight line but we think we’ll be better in the corners at Croft as well.”
