Serbian racer Dušan Borković has been excluded from the Monza event of TCR Europe following a post-race fight with a relative of title rival Mikel Azcona.
The disqualification means Borkovic loses the ten points he scored for fifth position in race one yesterday, leaving him now 30 points adrift of championship leader Azcona.
A total of 55 points remains available as the 2018 TCR Europe championship heads to its final round in Barcelona.
The case is now set to be referred to the FPAK – Federação Portuguesa de Automobilismo e Karting – the body that rules the TCR Europe series, meaning Borković may well face more penalties.
TouringCars.Net understands that a fight broke out after Borković approached the Autodis Racing by THX garage to protest with Benjamin Lessennes.
While he was protesting with the team, it is understood Azcona went over to discuss a separate incident between himself and Borković.
Tensions then flared and Borković was filmed punching Azcona’s uncle, who reportedly suffered from a broken nose.
