Pyro Motorsport’s Ollie Taylor went quickest in TCR UK’s pre-event test session at Castle Combe this afternoon [13th July].
Taylor – who clocked a best time of 1:06.882 seconds around the 1.8 mile circuit – edged out runaway championship leader Dan Lloyd (WestCoast Racing) by a little under half a second.
Lewis Kent rounds out the top three in the Essex & Kent Motorsport-run Hyundai i30 N TCR, with the outfit recently announcing their future expansion to a two-car outfit.
A mere tenth of a second separated Kent from the second WestCoast machine of Andreas Backman, with sibling Jessica behind sandwiching the CUPRA of Carl Swift.
Darelle Wilson’s Vauxhall Astra rounds out the seven cars with working transponders – though the DPE Motorsport pairing of Derek Palmer and Robert Gilmour, along with Stewart Lines’ CUPRA, all took part in the session.
Finlay Crocker’s Honda Civic Type R arrived at the circuit post-session but will be ready to compete from tomorrow.
A capacity trackside crowd is expected as headline touring car racing makes a long-awaited return to the Wiltshire circuit, with the action starting with the warm-up at 09:45 BST tomorrow [14th July].
