TouringCars.net understands Sam Tordoff attempted to enter the TCR UK Touring Car Championship meeting at Brands Hatch this weekend.
The 2016 British Touring Car Championship runner-up had intended to race in the series’ third meeting in Kent, but a deal failed to reach completion in time.
It remains to be confirmed which of the 14 current brands of TCR machinery the Yorkshire-based racer was set to compete in, or with which team.
Tordoff’s entry has not been formally confirmed by TCR UK, but appeared in the event programme at the circuit with prior permission.
TCR Europe Series regular Danny Kroes was also set to compete in the CUPRA TCR but a late entry similarly fell through.
It remains to be seen whether either will attempt to join the category for the next meeting, at Castle Combe over the weekend of July 14-15.
Regardless, the championship will still enjoy its strongest entry list to date, with 14 cars present to tackle the double-header around the 1.2 mile Indy configuration of the Kent circuit.
