Audi Sport’s Robin Frijns was fastest in second practice for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters this morning (Saturday, June 2nd), amidst further heavy rain showers affected the pace of all 18 drivers.
The Dutchman posted a 1:56.342 around the 4.381-km circuit, with lap times 20 seconds slower than the first practice session of the weekend.
Two-time champion Marco Wittmann was the best of the BMW drivers in second, with Loïc Duval in third, 0.484 seconds off the pace set by Frijns.
Points leader Timo Glock was fourth fastest, just 0.040 seconds ahead of Nico Müller, whilst championship protagonist Gary Paffett was the best of the Mercedes ranks, down in sixth place.
Philipp Eng continues his run of good form, following on from his performances at the Lausitzring two weeks ago, taking seventh ahead of Bruno Spengler, with the British pair of Jamie Green and Paul Di Resta completing the top ten.
BMW débutant Joel Eriksson was 0.005 seconds off Di Resta, but was quicker than 2015 champion Pascal Wehrlein, with Mike Rockenfeller, Edoardo Mortara and Daniel Juncadella.
Completing the timesheets were Augusto Farfus, defending champion René Rast and Lucas Auer, with the field 2.118 seconds apart.
Qualifying for the first race of the weekend starts at 1120 local time (BST + 1 hour), lasting for 20 minutes.
