Belgian racer Maxime Potty was very happy to have enjoyed his best TCR Europe weekend of 2018 at Spa-Francorchamps by securing podium finishes in both races.
The ComtoyouRacing driver qualified second for race one yesterday, and maintained position behind Jean-Karl Vernay who took the victory.
In the reverse-grid race, Potty started in ninth position and immediately made progress, eventually finishing third behind Kris Richard and Julien Briché, who then had their positions reversed post-race after contact.
Speaking to TouringCars.Net after the race, Potty said he was happy to have his best weekend to date, with a previous best result of 10th place in race two at Zandvoort.
“I’m very happy because in the Paul Ricard and Zandvoort it was not a good weekend,” said Potty.
“Here it’s a very good weekend with the two podiums, second place yesterday and third now.
“I had a very good start, in the first corner I was in a good place because I gained four places in the first corner.”
Looking ahead to the next TCR Europe round at Hungary on the 07/08 July, Potty is hoping to keep up his momentum but admits this will be dependent on Balance of Performance changes.
“In Hungary I don’t know because it depends on the car and the BoP and we’ll see when we’re at the Hungaroring.
“But we want more because it was the best weekend with my points and the restart on my championship.”
