ComtoyouRacing’s Maxime Potty is hoping he can overtake polesitter Jean-Karl Vernay in the opening TCR Europe race at Spa-Francorchamps.
The Belgian qualified second on the grid for his home race, continuing his strong practice form in his Volkswagen Golf GTI.
He told TouringCars.Net he is hoping to keep up this momentum and take the win in this afternoon’s race.
“We have a good place for the start,” said Potty. “Only little bit of a problem in the course was with turn 5 [Raidillon].
“But the car is good and we are hoping to win the race or a podium.”
With 49% chance of rain come the first race, the 18-year-old believes he will be quick regardless of whether the track is wet or dry.
“That’s no problem, Spa is my track! And we have a good car for the wet.”
The race is set to get underway at 17:20 CEST (16:20 BST), with a reverse-grid race tomorrow completing the weekend.
