Jessica Bäckman paid tribute to WestCoast Racing team-mate and TCR UK championship leader Dan Lloyd for his help after claiming a breakthrough podium in the category.
Bäckman started sixth for the partially reversed-grid finale and made a good start, using a pace advantage in the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR to follow Lloyd through into second.
From there she closed to within seven tenths of a second of the race lead at the chequered flag, comfortably clear of the scrap between Howard Fuller and Stewart Lines for third behind.
The result marked another 1-2 finish for Swedish outfit WestCoast Racing, and silverware for Bäckman on her first competitive weekend at the 1.2 mile Brands Hatch Indy circuit.
“I had a quite good start and then I was behind a lot of drivers, I knew I was faster so I had to get past as quickly as I could – I did that and managed to get a gap, so I’m very happy,” explained Bäckman.
“This result means everything to me; my goal this year was to get a podium and now I’ve got that, so I’m very happy.
“I also need to thank my team-mate Dan Lloyd for all his help this year, and also a big thank you to all the team at WestCoast Racing who did a great job.”
The championship heads next to Castle Combe over the weekend of 14-15 July.
