Howard Fuller admits he is keeping an eye on the performance of the Honda Civic Type R FK7 as a potential future avenue in the TCR UK Touring Car Championship.
Fuller currently races a Sean Walkinshaw Racing-run Honda Civic FK2, and will start the double-header at Brands Hatch this afternoon from 11th in both races.
Pyro Motorsport’s Ollie Taylor made the switch after the second event at Knockhill from an FK2 to the new-for-2018 FK7 model, and Fuller admitted to TouringCars.net that he watches his progress with interest.
Taylor will share the front row on his first outing in the machine with polesitter and championship leader Daniel Lloyd (Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR).
“Absolutely, I’m keeping an eye on everybody,” said Fuller.
“I think we are at a disadvantage at the moment, being penalised even though we’re in an older car so we’re getting really hit, we’re right at the bottom of the speed traps.
“The new Civic looks great, I think it’s definitely going to be an option for the future. If and when? I have no idea, we’re pretty happy with this car at the moment, we’ve got some great information we’re getting on it from other series.
“I think we’re okay at the moment, we’re pretty comfortable.”
