Dan Lloyd headed up a WestCoast Racing 1-2 in the final TCR UK practice session at Brands Hatch.
Lloyd’s best time of 48.580 seconds – the quickest of the day thus far – put his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR atop the time sheets ahead of team-mate Andreas Bäckman.
The gap between the two sat comfortably at a couple of tenths until the final runs, with championship leader Lloyd stretching his legs in a qualifying simulation to eclipse his rivals.
Ollie Taylor continued a fine start to life behind the wheel of the Honda Civic Type R FK7 in third, just three hundredths of a second further back, with Lewis Kent’s Hyundai i30 N TCR an improved fourth.
Newcomer Robert Gilmour was fifth in the DPE Motorsport-run Alfa Romeo Giulietta despite a spin at Graham Hill Bend earlier in the session.
Whilst Gilmour survived his off, Carl Swift’s CUPRA wasn’t as fortunate, a spin into the gravel at Paddock Hill Bend both ending his session and causing a brief red-flag stoppage, though he made it back to the pit lane under his own steam.
Regardless, he ended the session sixth, with Derek Palmer and the second Pyro Motorsport machine of Finlay Crocker completing a top eight covered by a second.
The final WestCoast Racing VW of Jessica Bäckman was ninth ahead of Howard Fuller (SWR) and Stewart Lines’ CUPRA, despite the former British Touring Car Championship racer going marginally faster than this morning’s warm-up session.
BMR Autoglym Academy’s Josh Price, the Renault Megane TCR of Alex Morgan and Darelle Wilson’s Vauxhall Astra round out the field heading into qualifying, set to get underway at 16:25.
