WestCoast Racing will once again field Swedish siblings Andreas and Jessica Backman alongside TCR UK Championship leader Dan Lloyd at Knockhill next weekend [12-13 May].
The team enjoyed a hugely successful start to life in the UK’s newest touring car category, securing pole position, two race victories and a fastest lap through Lloyd, with Andreas Backman taking the other.
TouringCars.net also understands that, due to a lack of calendar clashes and the logistical simplicity of leaving the cars in the UK until the third event at Brands Hatch, the team could also contest the third meeting.
Lloyd has underlined his desire to pull together a full-season campaign since Silverstone.
“Whilst the team’s focus is on TCR Scandinavia this year, we all agreed that we couldn’t just walk away from TCR UK after the first round,” explained James Nixon, Team Principal at WestCoast Racing.
“Both Andreas and Jessica are keen to repeat the kind of results they had at Silverstone and the extra seat time is a massive bonus for both of them.
“Dan is still looking for sponsorship to enable him to compete in further rounds, but we felt we really had to be in Knockhill to defend our lead in both championships.”
