Pit Lane Competizioni will field four cars in the opening round of the TCR Europe Series at Circuit Paul Ricard in France this weekend, with Giovanni Altoè, Nicola Baldan, Enrico Bettera and Andrea Larini racing.
The team are focussing on racing in the TCR Italy series in 2018, but will enter the cars for the event in order for drivers to gain more track time. The Italian series makes its only foreign trip when it also races at Le Castellet the week after the TCR Europe series visits the circuit.
Altoè races at the wheel of an Audi RS3 LMS DSG for the entire season, and will be joined for the French event by Baldan in a Hyundai i30 N TCR, Bettera in a sequential Audis RS3 LMS and Larini in a CUPRA TCR.
“I will be at Paul Ricard for the first round of the TCR Europe,” said Baldan. “I always like new challenges and in France there will be many excellent drivers. Being able to compare with them will be a big stimulus and will help me to understand where we are.
“I have not raced at Le Castellet since 2008 and I have never tried the European tyres, but we try. I’m sure the ‘Pakelomobile’ [his car] will not let us down!”
