Hungarian team M1RA has signed TCR Iberico champion Francisco Mora to partner Dániel Nagy in the 2018 TCR Europe series, where the Portuguese driver will race a Hyundai i30 N TCR.
M1RA were formed ahead of the 2017 season and campaigned Honda Civic TCR cars last year for Attila Tassi and Roberto Colciago.
The team have switched to Hyundai machinery for 2018 and Mora will partner Nagy in the team’s assault on the seven-event TCR Europe series season.
“We follow the concept that worked in 2017, our line-up contains a young Hungarian talent and a national TCR champion driver just like last year,” said Team Principal Dávid Bári. “I am so happy to welcome Francisco to our team, he proved his abilities in the Spanish and Portuguese TCR championships and he is extremely hungry for success in European level as well.
“The team worked very hard in the offseason, so a second young, talented and motivated driver is a kind of gift for everyone in the M1RA team. I have positive feelings before the start of the season.”
Mora is looking forward to a first full-season international TCR campaign, having previously made one-off outings in TCR International in 2015 and 2016.
“I am very excited to join M1RA, which is a great team,” said Mora. “I saw their results in TCR International Series last year and it became clear to me that this team is one of the best in Europe.
“I am expecting strong competition in the season opener, because there are many fast drivers on the grid, but I believe that I can be at the front.
“The Hyundai i30 N TCR has shown that is an amazing car and together with M1RA I know that I have all of the tools to be competitive. I will work as hard as I can and am looking forward to hitting the track at Paul Ricard.”
