Carl Swift will skip this weekend’s second round of the TCR UK series at Knockhill, citing the late arrival of a sequential gearbox as the reason for not making the journey north.
Swift started the season with a DSG gearbox but, like rival Stewart Lines, has decided to switch to a sequential transmission in order to boost performances during the season.
“Despite best efforts and late nights, I have been unable to complete the sequential gearbox upgrade in time to get prepared for Knockhill TCR UK,” said Swift. “It just arrived too late to get it installed and checked in time for this weekend.
“I’ll have it finished next week and get testing ready for Brands Hatch.”
Swift and Lines had originally been two entrants competing for the DSG Trophy, the winner of which gets a free upgrade to a sequential gearbox at the end of the year, with the trophy now featuring no entrants for the second event.
