Defending Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters champion René Rast ended the final pre-season test day at Hockenheim at the head of the time sheets, setting his best effort of a 1:32.459 in the final afternoon session ahead of the season opener in May.
All three brands were again represented in the top three fastest times, with BMW Team RMR’s Timo Glock behind the Audi Sport Team Rosberg driver in second, whilst Mercedes’ Lucas Auer completed the top three.
Auer, who covered a total of 147 laps during the day’s running, was 0.330 seconds off the pace set by Rast, whilst Munich rookies Joel Eriksson and Philipp Eng made it three BMWs in the top five.
The Swede, who graduated to the DTM from Formula 3 last year, posted his best time of the day in the morning, whilst Eng was faster in the afternoon.
Paul Di Resta was sixth fastest, ahead of fellow Stuttgart stablemate Pascal Wehrlein, with their C63 DTM Coupés only 0.036 seconds apart on pure flying lap pace.
The Audi Sport Team Sportsline pairing of Nico Müller and Robin Frijns shared driving duties in the RS5 DTM, with a total of 149 laps between them. The pair were faster than Loïc Duval, who completed the timesheets, 0.959 seconds off the pace set by Rast.
