Power Maxed Racing’s Josh Cook says his time which gave him P2 in a wet opening practice session at Donington Park is ‘completely irrelevant,’ as he works to improve the balance of his Vauxhall Astra.
Cook set a best lap time of 1:19.952, just 0.027 adrift of Dan Cammish who topped the session in his Team Dynamics Honda Civic Type R FK8.
“It’s completely irrelevant in my eyes,” Cook told TouringCars.Net.
“It’s FP1. People are scrubbing tyres, I was on old rubber. The balance isn’t right in the car yet. So we’ve got quite a lot of work to do.
“As long as we can make sure that we’re quick in qualifying that’s what counts.
For free practice two, which gets underway at 12:35, Cook is hoping to improve the balance of his Vauxhall.
“We’ve got some changes to make ahead of FP2, like I said the balance isn’t quite right.,” said Cook.
“It’s surprising to see where we are on the board. We know that the car is quick in the wet. I like Donington.
“So we’ll try to get everything aligned, get all our ducks in a row and give it our best shot for qualifying.”
