Dutchman Danny Kroes will race full-time in the 2018 TCR Europe season, signing for Spanish team PCR Sport to race a CUPRA TCR.
The 18-year-old previously took part in the German round of the TCR International Series at Oschersleben in 2017, whilst also contesting the Zandvoort round of the TCR Benelux series with Pepe Oriola.
Kroes impressed in his Oschersleben outing when he took a points finish despite starting at the back of the grid.
For 2018, Kroes will partner 21-year-old Spaniard Mikel Azcona at PCR Sport in a CUPRA TCR, whilst also receiving coaching support from Spanish WTCR driver Pepe Oriola.
“I’m really happy to drive a full season in the car,” said Kroes. “It’s much better knowing we’re going into a full season. Previously, it’s been quite a high pressure as it’s all been about the one weekend when I’ve raced, whereas now it’s a different kind of pressure, going in knowing it’s not all about one race but we’re working to a full season plan.
“My team-mate Mikel Azcona has a lot of experience, so during the year I can learn from him, and we can work together to get the best results for the team.
“I also know the car well from racing it last year at Zandvoort and Oschersleben, and it’s already proven to be a strong car.
“It’s last year’s Global Model Of The Year in TCR, and together with PCR Sport, who I want to thank for helping us put this programme together, I’m sure we’re going to have a fantastic season ahead.”
PCR Sport, run by Pep Codinach, have a strong track record, having raced in the SEAT Supercopa championship for the past two years. Prior to that the team finished third in the 2015 SEAT León Eurocup and second in its final year in 2016.
The team are currently taking part in a pre-season test at Circuit Ricardo Tormo ahead of the start of the season in the south of France on May 6.
