Attila Tassi will make his début in the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) at the next event at the Hungaroring, racing a new Honda Civic Type-R TCR for the Hell Racing Team.
The 18-year-old raced for the past two season in the TCR International Series, first in SEAT machinery before switching to Honda in 2017 when he took two wins on his way to the runner-up position in the standings.
Although Tassi’s main focus in 2018 will be the TCR Europe Series, the Hungarian will also make a wildcard entry into WTCR when the series visits the Hungaroring near Budapest in just over two weeks’ time.
Tassi is also working with Honda car builders JAS Motorsport as one of their official test and development drivers this year.
“I’m incredibly excited to announce that I will race at the Hungaroring WTCR event with Hell Racing Team,” said Tassi. “It’s the result of a lot of hard work behind the scenes by a lot of people and I’m thrilled that this has all come together.
“To race in front of my home crowd in an FIA World Cup event is a dream come true. The level of competition will be higher than anything I’ve experienced in my racing career, but I’m not going there to make up the numbers.
“I’ll instead push for the absolute best result I can possibly achieve. I can’t wait.”
