Ciceley Motorsport driver Adam Morgan says he is encouraged by his podium result in the final British Touring Car Championship race of the day.
The BTCC race winner came from 13th on the grid through to second position in the third encounter at Brands Hatch, passing Rob Austin’s HMS Racing Alfa Romeo in the latter stages of the race.
The results added to Morgan’s earlier points finishes in races one and two, where he was sixth and 13th respectively.
“It’s mega to come away with P2 from starting 13th,” said Morgan to TouringCars.Net. “It’s something I never would have expected.
“The car was just on rails – I really looked after my softs early on – and it paid dividends at the end.”
Morgan capitalised on a mistake by Mike Bushell to earn a podium position, before passing Austin.
“At the end Rob was struggling with his fronts and just had a little lockup into the last corner.
“I carried on through and there was just enough room for me to squeeze up the inside of him.”
He felt encouraged by the pace of his Mercedes-Benz A Class, and is eager for another strong showing in three weeks at Donington Park.
“To come back with the car in one piece is great. We had a good haul of points, and now we’re on the podium.
“It’s really nice and encouraging to go to Donington with that in the bank and hopefully we can improve and have another good solid three races.”
