TouringCars.net understands Stewart Lines is considering an upgrade to a sequential gearbox from the current DSG model fitted to his CUPRA for the next TCR UK Series meeting at Knockhill.
The championship has a specific category for models fitted with a DSG transmission – specifically the Audi RS 3 LMS, Volkswagen Golf GTi and CUPRA – with the prize on offer a free upgrade to a sequential transmission worth £20,000.
Lines ended the second test session at a damp Silverstone National circuit placed seventh, 1.213 seconds adrift of pace-setter Aiden Moffat.
The former British Touring Car Championship racer did, however, concede they had tested on old tyres and were testing variable setup options.
Maximum Motorsport elected not to take part in the championships tracking photography session shortly after the Lunch break to work on performance ahead of the final test this afternoon.
