Sean Walkinshaw believes the first official pre-season test ahead of the inaugural TCR UK Series campaign provided his outfit with an opportunity to gather useful data.
Running on the same National configuration at Silverstone that will host the opening two rounds of the season over Easter weekend, the former F3 and Blancpain GT Series ace lapped within 0.034 seconds off the fastest lap time of the day with a 1:27.027.
He also topped the time sheets during the third of four sessions around the 1.639 mile venue.
Mixed conditions greeted the 24-year old’s distinctive black and blue Honda Civic Type R TCR in the morning but progressively dried, allowing the team to gather some useful data and learn about the Yokohama tyre compounds.
“It was a very, very productive day”, said Walkinshaw.
“This was our first time out this year, so it was a case of getting everyone back into the swing of things. It was also our first time using Yokohama tyres, so we’ve been able to get some really useful data which should help us enormously for the first round.”
The championships Media Day, which was re-arranged to both allow teams further time to prepare their sponsorship packages and liveries as well as avoiding conflicting commitments at the Geneva Motor Show for several manufacturers with models participating in the series, is now scheduled for the Friday [30th March] prior to the opening weekend, again at Silverstone.
