Maximum Motorsport has confirmed that it will enter a SEAT León for former British Touring Car Championship racer Stewart Lines in selected rounds of the inaugural TCR UK series in 2018.
Lines was a regular in the BTCC in 2015 and 2016, with the Maximum Motorsport boss also getting back behind the wheel in the BTCC for the second half of the 2017 season.
At the same time as running in the BTCC, Maximum Motorsport acquired a SEAT León to run in the UK, believed to be one of the first in Britain. Lines will be the second entry currently eligible for the recently-announced DSG cup.
“We’ve had the car for some time now as I strongly believe that TCR is the future of touring cars,” said Lines. “We plan to compete in a number of championships with it and we’re starting 2018 with a programme of TCR UK events.
“Depending on how things go at Silverstone, we could well enter more rounds and have a real go at winning the DSG Trophy.”
Lines was third fastest in the recent TCR UK test day at Silverstone, behind the Hondas of Ollie Taylor and Sean Walkinshaw.
Maximum Motorsport will also enter cars into the TCR UK-supporting Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup.
