Daniel Lloyd has topped the TCR UK Series warm-up session by half a second ahead of the season-opening double header at Silverstone.
The TCR Balance of Performance test driver, piloting a Volkswagen Golf GTi prepared by WestCoast Racing, set a best of 1:03.701 in the final five minutes of the session to head up the time sheets by 0.533 seconds.
Howard Fuller’s Sean Walkinshaw Racing-run Honda Civic TCR came next, eclipsing early pace-setter Lewis Kent’s Hyundai i30 NR TCR by a similar margin.
Just two tenths covered Andreas Backman (Volkswagen Golf GTi) and the Laser Tools-backed Alfa Romeo Guilietta TCR of Aiden Moffat in fifth, with Carl Swift’s CUPRA TCR sixth as the highest placed DSG Trophy entrant.
Jessica Backman went seventh quickest on a 1:05.191 ahead of Maximum Motorsport’s Stewart Lines and the Honda Civic Type R FK7 of Finlay Crocker, who topped one of three sessions held in mixed conditions around the 1.6 mile circuit on Friday.
LMS Racing’s Olli Kangas put in his first laps in the CUPRA after flying in as a guest entry with tenth, with Pyro Motorsport’s Ollie Taylor and DW Racing’s Darelle Wilson (Vauxhall Astra) rounding out the field, the latter putting in his first laps in the car.
The series will hold a free practice session and qualifying this afternoon, with both season-opening races scheduled for tomorrow.
