Belgian racer Denis Dupont has confirmed that he will contest the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) in 2018, racing an Audi RS3 LMS for Comtoyou Racing.
Dupont took part in the final two meetings of the 2017 TCR International Series in a SEAT León supported by the Belgian RACB National Team, and he has now confirmed that support will continue into 2018.
“First of all, I am very happy to continue the adventure with the [RACB] National Team,” said Dupont. “Few drivers have had three seasons with the support of the national federation; I am very honoured.
“I am on a cloud with the idea of carrying out a full campaign in WTCR, in a World Championship. In addition, I will continue to run with Comtoyou Racing, a team I already know well for having raced in TCR International and VW Fun Cup.
“To say that I will aim for the title would be pretentious. There are a lot of circuits that I will discover for the first time.
“But I will not play fake modest either. My goal is to fight at the front of the pack, score and finish on the podium as often as possible. I thank the RACB, Comtoyou Racing and Diamond for allowing me to live this wonderful adventure.”
The WTCR season kicks off in Marrakech in early April.
