The new JAS Motorsport-developed Honda Civic Type R TCR has made its first on-track appearance today, with experienced tin-top racer Roberto Colciago getting behind the wheel.
JAS Motorsport are planning an initial run of 25 cars for the 2018 season. The car is based on the latest-specification Civic Type R production model, with the first deliveries taking place between December and May 2018.
Colciago shook down the new car at the Autodromo Tazio Nuvolari in Cervesina, marking the beginning of the test programme for the new racer.
“It’s great to be able to get a first taste of the new Honda Civic Type R TCR,” said Colciago. “As this is only a first run it’s too early to say much about the car.
“Initial impressions were that it feels well-balanced, the engine is responsive and the gearbox and other major areas like the aero package, are improved over the old car, which was itself a multiple championship-winner.
“Anybody who races this car next year is going to have a very competitive package.”
