GermanFLAVOURS Racing’s Thomas Kramwinkel has announced via his official Facebook page that he will not be participating in the two remaining rounds of the ADAC TCR Germany series, which heads to the Sachsenring this coming weekend.
He secured his best finish of the season back in July during the first race at Circuit Park Zandvoort, where multiple penalties issued saw him end up fifth in the amended results.
The Velbert-based driver, who was team mates with Sven Market this season, admitted to TouringCars.Net that he is planning to return to the championship in 2018.
“If it is possible, definitely. I initially had a plan to race in TCR for three seasons. I’m one of the least experienced drivers in racing terms, so I had to learn a lot.
He also admitted that due to one of his main sponsors withdrawing their support following the weekend at the Nürburgring, it prompted an immediate decision to be made regarding the remainder of the 2017 calendar.
The #82 Audi RS3 LMS that Kramwinkel piloted for the season is now currently up for sale, having been one of 16 cars from Ingolstadt to contest in the series.
In spite of his experience, he was aiming for top 15 finishes during the season and was pleased with his overall performance in a hotly-contested series, which is currently being led by Target Competition’s Josh Files.
“I was really happy about my good performance at Zandvoort, as well as coming back from 37th at the Nürburgring to end up 16th.”
Kramwinkel also thanked his supporters for their messages and comments following the news via his page:
“But lastly there are 2,109 people, who have given me extra motivation with their well wishes, autograph requests, comments and messages. I thank you all for your kind words, when I announced that my season was over.”
