Achim Kostron has been announced as the new Managing Director of ITR GmbH, which organises the DTM, as Florian Zitzlsperger departs after just over one year at the helm.
Zitzlsperger joined in June 2016 under the then-Chairmanship of Hans-Werner Aufrecht. He has since overseen restructuring in the organisation, latterly under new Chairman Gerhard Berger.
Zitzlsperger’s responsibilities included event organisation, television and promotional rights to ticketing, marketing and communication.
Berger, who took over as the Chairman of ITR earlier this year, thanked Zitzlsperger for his efforts over the past year.
“I would like to thank Florian Zitzlsperger for his commitment,” said Berger. “He has set decisive courses for the repositioning and therefore the future of the DTM.
Zitzlsperger, whose previous role as at Audi where he was Head of International Sports Marketing, thanked the organisation for its support in a rapidly-changing time for motorsport.
“I want to thank the team of DTM for the joint efforts and support over the past two years of reorganization, initially at AUDI AG and then at the ITR,” said the 42-year-old.
“I am delighted that I have been able to make my contribution in this decisive phase and I wish the DTM a successful future in the rapidly changing motorsport landscape.”
Kostron joins ITR having previously worked as a management consultant in the automotive industry with Horváth & Partners.
