Tom Coronel’s Chevrolet Cruze has been successfully repaired ahead of being freighted to Argentina for next weekend’s round of the World Touring Car Championship at Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo.
The Dutchman had to withdraw from the WTCC races in Portugal two weeks’ ago after he suffered from a front-left wheel failure which pitched him off the street circuit and into a fire recovery van.
The damage to the front of his car was extensive, and Coronel’s team immediately set about taking the car to a workshop to be repaired.
Together with rival outfit Campos Racing, the car was repaired at the Spanish team’s base in Barcelona and the car has now been transported to Frankfurt ready to be flown to Argentina for next weekend’s races.
Coronel will be hoping for a repeat of the pace he showed in last year’s races at the Argentine circuit, which was the scene of his last podium in the WTCC when he finished second overall in the Main Race.
Coronel provided full details of the logistical challenge in a post to his Facebook page.
