Team Engstler USA’s Jason Wolfe has now been declared the winner of the first ADAC TCR Germany Series race at Circuit Park Zandvoort, after the stewards handed out 30-second penalties to 15 drivers post-race.
This also included initial race winner Niels Langeveld, who has now been demoted to 15th place, with a heavily-revised order now finalised pending any forthcoming appeals, after a dramatic race by the North Sea coast.
As a result of the stewards’ decisions post-race, Bas Koeten Racing’s Rik Breukers moves up to second place, with defending champion and points leader Josh Files inheriting the final step on the podium.
Wolf-Power Racing’s Alex Morgan was moved up into fourth, ahead of GERMANFlavours Racing’s Thomas Kramwinkel, with the pair having originally finished seventh and tenth respectively.
Other drivers including Max Höfer, Mike Halder, Sheldon van der Linde and Antti Buri, were amongst those penalised by the stewards.
Target Competition had four cars end up in the top ten including Files’ Honda Civic, as Tim Zimmermann, Gosia Rdest and Simon Larsson occupied sixth to eighth, with LMS Racing’s Niko Kankkunen and Top Car Sport’s Ronny Jost behind the trio of Audi RS3s.
The majority of the penalties are likely to be related to the drivers involved not having had their tyres on the car at the three-minute signal prior to the race restart, when it was declared as a wet race due to the conditions changing under the stoppage.
